There is a song that I hear played often on the radio. It is simply called, “Preach.” But the point of the song expressed in the lyrics is “I want my life to preach.” Oh I love that so much!
He says, “I want my life to preach. Every breath, every beat. I want my life to preach.
When I’m strong, when I′m weak. Through valley lows and mountain highs. Every moment testifies further than my words could ever reach. Lord, I want my life to preach” Don’t you just love it! And that should be our prayer as Christians. That our lives would show more than our words ever could that we want our lives to point others to Jesus. That we would live a life that would make others want to know what makes you different. What makes you stand out against the backdrop of the world.
He says, “When I’m strong and when I’m weak.” This is the test. Sometimes when things are going well, we forget that we are living the benefit of God’s grace. When everything is going our way, we have a tendency to want to take credit for all the good. But that is exactly when we need to have that humble spirit that the Savior had and bow our heads in gratefulness for what the Father has given us.
But how about when things are not going our way. Maybe illness has come or even the death of a loved one, the loss of a job. How well does your life preach then? In our times when things are not so rosy, is the perfect time to show the world the God who loves you. The God who comforts. When people see you going through hard times with a peaceful attitude, they know that can only come from God. Let your life preach in these hard times. Show others the strength of the God you serve. Show others that peace that passes all understanding.
And, even in just our daily everyday, everything is fine life, our life should be preaching all day everyday. A life lived for Jesus should always show. A life that becomes a sermon to the lost world around you. Oh my goodness! “Father, let my life preach with every breath I take and with every beat of my heart. I want my life to preach!”
Live a life that shows the world to whom you belong. It will make a difference!
