Numerous First Responders Assist in Terry County Collision
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, a multi-vehicle accident involving a commercial truck and a passenger vehicle occurred at the intersection of FM 213 and FM 403, about ten miles south of Brownfield in Terry County.
According to law enforcement, Brownfield Police Department dispatch notified Brownfield Regional Medical Center EMS and Brownfield Fire & Rescue Department after receiving reports of the crash.
Authorities stated that a male driver was traveling northbound on FM 403 in a white “chemical treater” truck. At the same time, a female driver was traveling westbound on FM 213 in a late-model silver/gray Lincoln Navigator with three minor passengers.
As both vehicles approached the intersection, the driver of the Navigator reportedly failed to stop at the posted stop sign and struck the truck on its right side. The impact caused the truck to roll over and come to rest on its passenger side, approximately 200 ft from the impact, completely blocking FM 403.
First responders worked for approximately 20 minutes to safely extricate the truck driver from the vehicle. The female driver and the three minors were able to exit their vehicle and were awaiting medical evaluation upon the arrival of EMS personnel.
All five individuals involved in the accident were transported by ambulance to the hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been released, but officials confirmed that no fatalities were reported.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Terry County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Wellman Fire Department, BRMC EMS, Lynn County EMS, Seagraves-Loop EMS, and Denver City EMS.
The accident remains under investigation.
