Brownfield woman killed in Terry County accident

At approximately 2:35 PM on Tuesday, November 18th, BRMC EMS and Brownfield Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a major accident at the intersection of US 385 (Levelland Highway) and FM 2196. According to law enforcement, a 45-year-old woman, Rosalba Munoz from Plains, TX, was driving east on FM 2196 in a 2016 white International Prostar truck towing a 2006 Wilson trailer as she approached the US 385/FM 2196 intersection. She failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a 29-year-old woman, Elizabeth Miranda from Brownfield, TX, who was driving north on US 385 in a white 2024 Kia Forte.

After the collision, Miranda’s vehicle came to a stop approximately 90 feet from the point of impact, while Munoz’s truck came to a full stop about 240 feet from the impact site on the north shoulder of County Road 280.

Miranda was pronounced dead at the scene by Terry County JP Angie Garza. Munoz was transported to Brownfield Regional Medical Center by EMS due to injuries sustained in the crash. Both women were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Records indicate that the 2016 International Prostar truck driven by Munoz is owned by Sunny Harvest Transport LLC, based in Plains, TX.

The Terry County Sheriff’s Department, Brownfield Fire & Rescue, BRMC EMS, TxDPS (Highway Patrol), and TxDOT all responded to the scene.
