The Brownfield Fire & Rescue was dispatched at approximately 7:15 PM on Saturday, December 6th, to respond to a one-vehicle rollover incident in the 1200 block of County Road 200 in Terry County, about 15 miles north/northwest of Brownfield. According to law enforcement, 66-year-old Tommie Hernandez from Levelland was traveling eastbound on County Road 200 when he struck the soft borrow ditch on the north side of the road. He then overcorrected, causing his vehicle to skid sideways before rolling over.
Hernandez was not wearing a seatbelt. Terry County Justice of the Peace declared Hernandez deceased at the scene. Terry County Sheriff’s Office, BRMC EMS, Brownfield Fire & Rescue, and Texas DPS responded to the scene.
