Carolina Cruz, a woman of profound faith and unwavering devotion to her family went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2026. Though her absence will be deeply felt, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of our Lord and reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, Merejildo Cruz.

She was born to Felix and Concepcion Orosco on January 17, 1942, in Yorktown, Texas. She married the love of her life, Merejildo in Brownfield on November 16, 1957.

Carolina’s greatest joy was her role as a matriarch of her family and woman of faith. She was a true prayer warrior devoted to ensuring each member of her family felt deeply loved and lifted in prayer.

She was a talented seamstress and worked for over 35 years. She had a passion for sewing, gardening, and cooking, always finding ways to include family in her hobbies. Whether that was a quilt made with love or hand sewn clothing for one of her children. With her husband by her side, they tended to her flower garden and grew vegetables which they would then can and share with family. Cooking a meal for loved ones to gather was just the kind of loving person she was and being with her family at the dinner table brought her so much joy and happiness.

Carolina’s life was a testament to the beauty of a long-lasting marriage, the strength of her devoted faith and the love of a bountiful family.

She is survived by her children Betty Fuentes, Laura (David) Ponce, and Ruben (Sandy) Cruz; four grandchildren, Mark Cruz, Crystal (Jason) Garcia, Ryan (Danielle) Cruz, and Candace (Michael) Reyes; four great-grandchildren: Luke, Malachi, Isaiah, and Gabriella; sisters, Enriqueta Orosco and Gloria Orosco.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Carolina Cruz, siblings, Guadalupe Orosco, Lucia Garcia, Felix Orosco, Eginia Lopez, Criselda Tijerina, and Ofelia Davila.

Carolina’s legacy will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, cherished, and always remembered for her faith, strength and devotion to her family.
