Funeral Services for Gloria Rivera, 78, of Brownfield, will be held at 10pm Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at St Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Rosary will be held from 6-7 pm on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Gloria Rivera, a beloved soul whose life was marked by love, compassion, and joyful moments, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026. Born on May 29, 1948, in Meadow, Texas, Gloria’s journey spanned over seven decades filled with heartwarming memories and cherished connections. She was a woman who found deep fulfillment in caring for others, embracing her role as a caregiver with unwavering devotion and kindness. Gloria’s care was not only a profession but a true expression of her loving spirit. Those around her knew her as someone who could comfort and nurture, a beacon of gentle strength in times of need. She was a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Family held a special place in Gloria’s heart. She loved gathering loved ones around the table, where she took great joy in cooking delicious meals for those she treasured most. These moments reflected her warmth and generosity, her kitchen acting as a sanctuary of love and connection. In addition to her caregiving and culinary talents, Gloria found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved to go out to eat, savoring new experiences and sharing laughter with friends and family. Among her favorite pastimes were playing slot machines, an activity that brought light-hearted excitement to her days. Moreover, she delighted in collecting Labubus, a unique hobby that illustrated her joyful appreciation for the little things in life. Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Rudy Villarreal; parents, Avelino and Janie DeLeon; brothers, Edward Flores, Avelino DeLeon Jr.; and sisters, Louisa Perez, Mary Lou DeLeon, and Janet DeLeon.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Villarreal; son, Mike Goodson; grandsons, Aaron Skains and wife Josey, Rudy Villarreal and Ashton Villarreal; granddaughters, Ariel Cuellar and husband Adrian and Demi Villarreal; great-granddaughter, Esmeriah Skains; great-grandsons, Chris Delgado, Aaron Skains, Jr. and Zepplin Skains; and daughter-in-law, Esmeralda Villarreal.
